alternative Christmas tree

December 7, 2010 by Lindsey 1 Comment

It’s that time of the year, the MOST wonderful time of the year! I’ve been busy, busy working on some great holiday posts, projects, gift guides, etc. for you all. The spirit of the holidays is something that I look forward to every year, despite my deep, deep, deep dislike for the cold weather. I love the feeling, the giving and the atmosphere surrounding the holidays though. I just love it.

I wanted to kick off the holiday posts with a great alternative to a Christmas tree when space might be limited. I just happened to be with my friend Maria recently when her sister Carla texted a photo of their “Christmas tree.” It was fabulous. I instantly jumped and had Carla send me the photo and a little write up about their creation. Here’s what she had to say:

This modern twist to a classic Christmas tree provides an affordable alternative to your home for the holidays. The tree was inspired by a Ballard Designs image that we had seen earlier. We hand picked the branches from our front yard and arranged them in the vase like so. We then wrapped Christmas lights around them and added some ornaments to bring some Christmas cheer into our home. We picked up the vase at a local outdoor furniture store and the ornaments, from Target. That’s all it took. Happy Holidays!

Isn’t this the cutest? I thought it was a great, creative way to still have the tree sort of feeling in your home. This can so easily be done, and chances are you have some sort of container large enough to hold the branches lying around in your home somewhere. And you might already have ornaments and lights too. Do you do something creative instead of the traditional Christmas tree at the holidays? If so, we’d love to see it. Thanks Carla, and roommates!
