a quick update to a plastic plant pot

May 18, 2016 by Lindsey Leave a Comment

This is the easiest project of all time. And full of alliteration.  For real, like all time. Our house is slowly turning into a greenhouse with all the plants we have around, but we love it. And can’t stop buying them.

DIY Rope Wrapped Plastic Plant Pot

This one was in the perfect sized planter so instead of replanting it I just wrapped it in a thick twine/rope and called it beautified.

Planter Supplies

The rope was $4 at Home Depot and I used a glue gun to secure it as I wrapped it around the pot. I secured the beginning of the rope with hot glue and then would add dots of hot glue as I wrapped it. As I would wrap it I would be sure to squeeze all the layers of rope to ensure they were tight. Now, it’s an easy project, but messy as the rope sheds the entire time you’re working on it, so get the vacuum ready.

Planter Wrapped in Rope

In the end, it adds a whole new look to a standard, plastic planter. And, it makes me feel like I’m helping the earth a little bit because in our area we can’t recycle these plastic pots so they end up in the trash. This way, we just pretty them up and call it a day!
