This is what Alison had to say about her creation: “In a way the design is recycled; the brown is acrylic paint I had, and the green is just a darker shade I mixed from the background color (one of those Benjamin Moore color samples- perfect for small projects). To finish it off, I coated it all with some shellac that Bryan had.”
“Also, cool thing- Bryan drilled holes under the last hook on each side to attach it to the wall and then attached the hooks over that so you dont see an extra screw hole.”
“And lastly, an important painting tip from Bryan the painter: always do a first coat of primer especially on wood or it will soak up your nicer paint. Lightly sand with 100 grit or finer sand paper between layers so the new coat of paint has something to stick to.”
I LOVE this coat rack. It came out so good, and kudos to Bry for the good tip on how to hide the drill holes. Also, Alison is an awesome painter and super creative so we’ll have many more blog post to come of projects from around her house as well!
