It’s no surprise that I love simple pretzel and chocolate treats. I make my usual pretzel squares every year, but this year I decided to try mini pretzel rods, which turned out to be even easier than the squares.
You can use any sort of chocolate that is easily meltable, though I used chocolate discs that you buy at a craft store. They’re usually in the baking/wedding aisle of Michael’s, AC Moore or Hobby Lobby. Start by lining a cookie sheet, tray or plate with wax paper.
Melt the chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring in between every 30 seconds. This will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the chocolate used. While the chocolate is cooking add whatever sprinkles you’re using to a cup. I used a small paper cup, only because it was easier to me to grab a pinch full and sprinkle. You can also sprinkle directly from the container.
Once the chocolate is melted dip each pretzel into the chocolate until it’s about a quarter to a half covered and place on the wax paper. I would dip about 10-12 pretzels and then stop and add the sprinkles. You can add as many or as few sprinkles as you’d like and in whatever colors you’d like. I made some white chocolate with red and green sprinkles and some milk chocolate with rainbow sprinkles.
I made a ton and packaged them up to bring this week when we’re visiting for the holidays with friends and family.
