Yes, bacon. Who doesn’t love bacon? If you raised your hand, well, that’s just too bad. What I don’t love about bacon is cooking it. It’s messy and grease splatters everywhere when cooked on the stove and it’s kind of high maintenance and when cooked in the microwave it just doesn’t taste as delicious and crispy to us.
I decided to try baking it and I will 100% confess that I hovered over the stove the entire time constantly peering through the oven door because I was petrified of a massive grease fire starting. Thankfully, nothing that exciting/horrifying occurred.
The process was so simple though. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and lay out the raw bacon so the pieces are not touching. Then you simply put the tray in the oven, middle rack, and turn it to 400 degrees. Do not preheat, allow the oven to heat while the bacon is in it. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until it’s crispy and light brown.
Mine actually took closer to 22-23 minutes. They were thicker slices though and the altitude plays a factor in cooking things, though, I’ve yet to figure that out.
Super easy for weekend breakfast or to make ahead for BLT’s like I did. Delicious!
P.S. I’ve heard that peanut butter on a BLT tastes delicious but I’m too chicken to try it. Have you guys tried peanut butter on your BLT’s?!
