Saving using coupons can be done at more than just the grocery store and home stores, such as Wal-Mart and Target, and on more than just food and household products. Before I venture out to any store at all I Google around real quickly to see if I can find a coupon to use. Majority of the time I can find one. I do the same when shopping online, I always Google around to find an online coupon code to apply at checkout. The following is a list of stores where I’ll never show up without a coupon. They make it too easy for you not to have one:
Bed Bath & Beyond: They are constantly sent via snail mail and can often be found on their website. Sign up for emails and they’ll send them right to you too.
A.C. Moore: Right on their website there’s a link for coupons. Doesn’t get much easier.
Michael’s: Also right on their website. Always.
Savers: This is where I get a lot of my projects to redo and give makeovers to. Things such as furniture and frames. Every time you donate a bag of clothes or household items they give you a $3 off coupon.
JoAnn Fabrics: They email them to you and pretty much every time I buy something there (using a coupon!) there’s another one that they’re handing over to me.
Other ways to save are the ever popular daily deals that come from sites like Groupon, Living Social, Buy With Me, Eversave. The list goes on and on. More are popping up constantly and they really can save you decent money when it’s something you need. We’ve used numerous of these deals for items like organic meat and nuts to Body Shop products. You pay a small percentage for a gift card that has a much greater value. For instance, we recently purchased a Body Shop Groupon deal for $20. But the value of it was $45 and we both use products from there. That was a decent savings for us on things we needed. We also shop around for good deals on these sites for fun things to do. We’ve purchased rock climbing, kayaking, museum passes, restaurants and movie tickets all for a fraction of the cost.
Other sites and stores often have daily deals too. A few are: Target, Amazon and Wal-Mart. I got a pair of sandals from a Target daily deal a few weeks ago. I’d been eye spying them but I didn’t want to pay full price. They were 60% off as the daily deal. I also bought Al a home theater system for Christmas from Amazon. I’d been shopping around for quite a while but the one I ideally wanted to get him was still out of my price range. Until it was Amazon’s daily deal one Sunday night in December. Not gonna lie, I felt like I won the lottery on that one. Much more exciting than the Target sandals.
Point is, there are savings to be had everywhere. And you might be thinking it’s not for you or you don’t have time. You don’t have to spend 40 hours a week like the Extreme Couponers do. I spend maybe 3 hours a week total and not all at one time. It’s allowed us to pay off all credit card debt, pay an incredible amount to both of our student loans, pay off a car and has left a lot of fun money for traveling and vacationing. Give it a shot, it might be worth it to you.
I hope you’ve found this series helpful and have learned at least one thing. I’ll continue to post sporadically about different ways we’re saving or stretching a dollar, but in the interim feel free to comment or email with any feedback you might have. Happy saving!

I saved your couponing posts for a rainy day…loved them! I’m not big on coupons…but your post #4 is totally my life. These places make it too easy not to use a coupon. One other thing to note on Bed Bath & Beyond…they never really expire and they take them on things that are excluded in the fine print. I save every coupon that comes in the mail and then use them on individual items. I’ve never paid full price for something there! Also, Dyson is excluded in the fine print, but they let me use one…so 20% off a very fancy vacuum!

You were able to use it on a Dyson, Lynds?! You may have just changed my life! I won’t even step in a BB&B without a coupon. It’s such easy, free money back in your pocket. Thanks for the tips!
