Last week we all watched as that horrific tornado in Oklahoma swept through the small community of Moore. A handful of my co-workers are either Oklahoma natives or have relatives and friends residing there. We decided to brainstorm on how we could give back and we came across Heart to Heart . You can learn more on their website, but they provide care kits of toiletries and necessities to those who are without these essentials.
I made eight bags to contribute and it took me about 20 minutes to put them altogether. The total cost for the eight bags was about $40, just $5 per bag. I could have just given money, and that’s totally fine, acceptable and appreciated, but it felt good to actually purchase what they need.
And to be honest as I was gathering supplies I was thinking about how I don’t really have the $40 extra bucks right now, but that I really wanted to do this. But, I have a whole lot more than they do right now and the small gesture of giving toothpaste and a comb is going a long way in helping them adjust and recover from such tragedy. So it was easy to find the 40 bucks to spare.
All that to say if you feel you want to help out too or support efforts to help those in Oklahoma this is a great option. And you don’t have to make eight bags. You can make one or two or you can donate money too. Every little bit helps and is making a big difference in the lives of those affected.
It’s tough to keep up and give back to every charity, organization, community, etc that needs it. But we’re really trying to make it a norm whether it be giving money, time, products or whatever is needed. One small gesture goes a long way to someone in need. How do you guys help out, give back? Let me know if there are any organizations near and dear to your heart that I can add to our support list. Happy giving!
