Is it too far into the year to be talking about resolutions and goals?! Happy New Year guys, hope 2018 has been great for you so far.
Rolling into 2018 we’re keeping with the goal of reducing waste from last year. I think we started out strong last year on the food waste but there were definitely times of the year where we didn’t follow through on that. I never did finish Harry Potter. It’s just not something I can get into and I’m okay with that. I think I’ll watch the movies ha! I did read more but not as much as I was hoping to and I definitely watched less TV and saw a few documentaries that were great.
In 2018 the focus is on:
Reducing food waste: Eat the leftovers! Only buy what we know we’ll eat and go to the store more if we need to. Our main trouble spots are the leftovers, lettuce (we need to just chop it right when we get home) and the Costco carrots that I tell myself we’ll eat in time and never do.
Reducing single use plastics: Plastics are killing our earth and our food chains. The one time plastics – wrap, bags, food packaging. We have to do better! I have a whole post coming on this soon.
Recover from being a workaholic: This is probably going to be the hardest one for me. More to come but, I’m a workaholic and I don’t want to be anymore.
Self care: I’m not talking spa days. Just taking time to stretch, go for a walk, meditate. Working parenthood is demanding and I know taking 20 minutes for myself will make me a better mom, wife, employee.
Finish house projects: We are both guilty of starting a project and not following through. We complete it until it’s livable or usable and then forget about it. This year we’re finishing all the small projects left to complete.
The last goal of mine for the year is to set smaller, monthly goals. I’m learning more and more about myself these days and what makes me operate at my best is having small goals and deadlines.
What about you guys? What is your focus for 2018? Do you set resolutions, establish goals, choose a word of the year? And, do you keep them?!
