Sometimes don’t you just need a quick, easy thoughtless project to do? This was that project for me. For months I’ve been thinking about doing it, I already had the paint and I knew it would take no time at all. I just needed to do it!
Our mailbox needed a makeover. It was old, faded, grungy and sad-looking.
I already had a small can of gold spray paint that had just enough left in it for one small project.
I removed it from the house, cleaned it off using a damp paper towel and prepared to paint it. I also wiped this mess away that was on the house behind the mailbox…gross!
I painted it at first with the lid shut. Let that dry for about 20 minutes and then opened the lid to get the spots I missed. I did this three times until I had a nice, even, smooth coverage. And for the record, I didn’t paint it while it was ON the house. I just forgot to take pictures while painting it!
Voila! So easy but makes a huge difference. It totally pops now with the shiny new coat of paint.
If it were up to me I would have painted it a fun color. I’m not sure my grumpy landlord would have liked a bright orange mailbox though.
It makes the tiny space around the door look a little bit newer and a little bit fresher. Such an easy, inexpensive solution to updating the space!
