A few weeks ago I was preparing some mason jars to can peaches. They had price stickers on the metal lids though, so I had to get them off. Obviously they couldn’t just peel off nicely, that would be too easy. They left massive amounts of gooey price sticker.
Because I was using the jars for food I really didn’t want to soak them in any sort of chemical cleaner, even if I was going to wash them before using them. I Googled around and wouldn’t ya know what I learned.
Olive oil serves the same purpose as the sticker remover cleaning product Goo Gone. I gave it a shot. I laid all of the lids out flat with the sticker side up. I poured a tiny amount of olive oil, enough to cover all the goo, on the lids. Let it sit for about 5-7 minutes and voila!
I used a cotton ball to wipe up the olive oil and the gooey sticker came off right along with it. I was totally intrigued by it and won’t get so angry from now on when I come across some extra sticky price stickers!

So glad I could help! It really was amazing, the sticker wiped right off. I wish I’d known about this earlier!

Olive oil also works wonders for getting gum out of your hair…. In case you ever have a run in with a popped bubble fiasco.

When I was in 4th grade I got GAK in my hair. I bet the olive oil would have taken that out too…!

This is a great idea! I’ve wondered what to use instead of goo gone! I will be trying this out for sure
