I’m coming up on 21 weeks in this pregnancy and it’s been an interesting journey thus far. I’m feeling a lot better, still staying active, don’t have any cravings but am loving fresh fruit and rarely make it past 9pm before I’m in bed.
While we were on vacation a few weeks ago the bump really popped out to the point that I looked pregnant versus like I ate a huge burrito for lunch. An observation that we both made was the amount of people who just STARE at you.
casual bump photos. real life. nothing fancy, nothing staged.
Women, men, children – everyone just stares. But they don’t stare with a happy face, they look your body up and down with this disgusted look on their face. Even other pregnant ladies did this! What gives?! What’s with the judginess?! Have people never seen a preggo before? It was really odd to both Al and I and we now notice it everywhere we go.
The other thing that has been interesting is the amount of people who feel the need to ask you questions relating to anything and everything – your pregnancy, your exercise routine, your delivery plan, you diet, your childcare choices, etc. I’m talking total strangers in the checkout line, the dentists office, restaurants and more.
A new dentist I met the other day didn’t ask me how I was or introduce herself – she dove right in with “where will you be delivering?” WHY does she care?! Or find the need to ask that question?! She’s supposed to be looking at my teeth! I could care less about someone else’s birthing plans. Honestly. Especially a stranger!
It’s been an interesting journey to experience these things. It’s like all of a sudden your only identity is being a pregnant woman and that’s the only way people can relate to you. And I’m not saying all this in a negative way, more of just an observation of the experience of being pregnant. Have you guys experienced this?! I guess I’ve just never been that interested in the choices people make for their family. And I’ve never been interested in negatively looking at a pregnant woman either!
And don’t get me started on rando’s rubbing the belly. Just get yo hands off people! It’ll be interesting to see what’s ahead in the coming months as this thing continues to grow!

I think you and baby look awesome! So happy you are feeling better and doing well. Who knows what goes on in the minds of others. Smile, laugh and dance girl, God is making you a mama now! That is a great blessing and I hope you enjoy every step of the way! Sending love to all of you.

Hello…So glad that you are feeling better. You look fantastic. I am sure all those crazy looks are just because for the most part people just don’t get that if you are not smiling when you look at someone, your face can be pretty damn scarey! I will admit that if I saw you today I would first hug you and then touch your belly ?. Hi to Al.
