As a follow up to yesterday’s post I wanted to share this recommendation with you guys. When we first moved in we had our water tested as we could tell it was really hard. The testing came back exactly how we expected – very hard water, lots of things in it that aren’t good for your skin and hair and not ideal to drink either.
However, we also had them test the water from our Brita filter – our drinking water – and that came back nearly perfect. So, those things really do work!
While we’d love to eventually install a full house water filtration system, it’s just not a priority right now. When we redid the subway tile in the shower we decided to try out a shower head filtration system to see if we noticed a difference. We purchased this one from Amazon (looks like it’s currently unavailable) after doing a lot of research. It was easy to install on our new shower head but I will say, it makes the shower head sit very low. Al can just barely stand under it without it hitting his head. I don’t have those problems at my tall height of five feet.
I think it was after probably 7-8 showers for me when I started to notice a difference. Normally when I would get out of the shower my skin would be very dry and itchy, and I knew it was the water as it didn’t happen to me in other places we’ve lived. I also have been having the worst dry scalp since living in this house. Like so bad, itchy, uncomfortable scalp.
After using this filter for nearly two months now I don’t feel so dry when I shower, I’m not itchy, I don’t feel like I need to bathe in body lotion after showering and my dry scalp is pretty much completely gone.
I really think it has made a huge difference and it’s a pretty inexpensive investment if you have hard water and sensitive skin. Not to mention that it’s already so dry in Colorado I don’t need anything drying out my skin even more.
And while this totally sounds like a sponsored post, it isn’t. I just really love sharing with you guys when something works for us and this is one of those things.
