super simple diy wreath

March 13, 2014 by Lindsey Leave a Comment

Late post! Lots of technical issues this AM!

So I made a wreath. Which I mean if we’re being honest it probably wouldn’t even classify as a wreath. What I learned in the process was that I’m the worst wreath maker ever and frankly I did not like the act of making a wreath. However, our front door and hallway is so cold and uninviting, so I wanted something to brighten the day when I face that door.

And anything would be better than the three-month old holiday wreath on our neighbors door!

I had the fabric on hand, picked up the wreath form for $2 at a thrift store and grabbed some fake flower stems from the dollar store. Total investment was probably six bucks or so. After fighting with the fake purple and white berries for an hour, while they all just kept breaking off, I finally threw them all away.

So then I was left with two, easier to manage, non-berry, fake flower stems. I wrapped the wreath form in a linen fabric, that I had in my fabric stash, and used sewing pins to secure it.  I then smushed the two stems together and slid them into the fabric.

Using some wreath wire I tied the stems down so they were more secure and weren’t so floppy. There are so many technical terms in this post. And that was it. My whole wreath. And let me tell ya, when that bad boy was done I poured a glass of wine.

To hang it I made a small loop with some leftover ribbon and pinned to the back of the wreath. Threw a nail in the front door and called it a day.

I’ll likely never post another wreath project for as long as I’m a blogger. Though, I shouldn’t say never… Are you better than me at making wreaths? Tips welcome.
