Today is day 1 of the Whole 30 for me – 30 days of whole foods only. I know, I know. It’s trendy right now just like coconut oil, minimalism and essential oil diffusers, but I feel like I need a reset. To be honest we eat in accordance to the Whole 30 the majority of our days. But we also love beer. And happy hour. And currently, since I’ve had Louie, I have the most aggressive sweet tooth, something I didn’t have my entire pregnancy.
So I’m taking the month to reset. I plan to follow the Whole 30 guidelines pretty closely, with a few exceptions. Here’s my sad looking, but delicious, breakfast.
First, based on one of my new year focuses I won’t be wasting any food we have. So we have some cheese left in the fridge that we’ll finish up and some nut crackers and Larabars. Not going to waste food to accomplish this Whole 30 thing.
And the Superbowl. I mean I plan to keep things in control but when your team is in the Superbowl you need to celebrate and eat football food.
And I’m allowing good, organic red wine in moderation. Because sometimes when you have a 3 month old and are back at work and are still exhausted you just need a good glass of red wine.
Have you guys tried the Whole 30? I plan to update here on the blog 2 weeks in and then at the end too. I figure that way I feel like I’m being held a little accountable. I’m also hoping to learn some new, simple recipes that I’ll be sure to share. Anyone else want to join in?!
