On Monday Al and I had the chance to spend the morning celebrating the homecoming of about 40 soldiers, my cousin being one of them. They’ve been away on duty for about a year now.
It was just like you see on tv. Amazing and emotional. They always show clips of loved ones and soldiers running into each others arms. Well, that’s what happens! Once they gave the go ahead people were running everywhere. It was so heart warming to watch.
We were so lucky that the day and time worked out so we were able to join. I’ll always cherish the experience. I had fun making a few signs and dressing patriotic. The infantry photographer even caught me on camera working away!
Men and Women in the military are absolutely fascinating people to me. I’ve had two cousins serve in the military in the past four years or so. Sometimes I wonder if they actually know how many people think of them or about them on a daily basis. I know from just me alone I’ve had friends, co-workers, in-laws, etc. ask me how they’re doing on a regular basis. Even though only a handful of them have ever met my military cousins.
I just feel like everyone has a special place in their hearts for soldiers. At least I know I do, and I thank every single person that has served, is serving or did serve. Home of the free because of the brave.
I wanted to share some photos from the homecoming. Enjoy!
