finding the perfect “Oops” paint

July 5, 2011 by Lindsey Leave a Comment

Have you ever seen the “Oops” paint section of Home Depot? It’s where they sell the returned cans of paint or the ones that have been mixed incorrectly for a fraction of the cost. It’s fabulous and can save you a bundle.

When buying paint we always check the Oops Paint first. You never know what you’ll find there, but you must have an open mind. You can’t go in thinking you’re going to find that perfect shade of green you’re looking for. Chances are you’ll be let down.

This is what the Oops Paint section of the store looks like. It’s usually right near the paint mixing counter. It can be overwhelming and can take time to poke through, so have patience.

We go in with hopes of finding a color we can work with or work around. Though, we don’t buy hot pink wall color just because it’s cheap and we could work with it. We choose practical options. We lucked out at two different Home Depot stores with a $1.00 quart for the bathroom and a $5 gallon that covered the kitchen and our bedroom.

Both were easy colors to work with, especially the blue for the bathroom. I’ll be sharing the final bathroom makeover photos later this week so stay tuned for Oops Paint in action.

Next time you’re in the market for paint always check the Oops section first. You never know, maybe you will find that perfect green. Have you ever lucked out with a great Oops Paint find?
