What’s your design style when it comes to your home, your living space? I kind of hate when I’m asked that question. There are so many trends in home decor and design and I feel like everyone just does it because it’s what’s “in.”
So I’ve been struggling lately because I love so many different types of design… mid–century modern, antique/vintage, modern styles, rustic looks and more. But I’ve been feeling like I can’t combine them because they’re all so different and you know, that’s what home designers and Pinterest tell you. But then one day I realized that it’s our house, no one else’s, so we’ll do what we want to design and decorate. Which for us is good-looking and functional.
So that’s what I’m doing. I’m combining them all and I love the way it looks…in my head at least because there’s still so much to do.
I love the fancy gold touches in the office and the rustic table we built in the dining room and the mid mod style furniture in the bedroom.
And I love how we’re mixing the styles together, like using pipes to support the standing desk in the office, mixed with the gold accents.
I’ve never been one who is heavily influenced by what’s “in” or popular in design trends. I’ve been using mason jars for everything for ten years and it drives me nuts that it’s such a trend now! I make choices based on what I like and what works for us.
So, what about you? Do you guys feel the same way about trends? Do you think I’m crazy to combine a million design styles together?

Not at all! I used to say my style was “Eclectic” and I didn’t care what anybody else thought, cause I loved it. I love your styles. :-)

Agree, Shar! Do what you want, what makes you happy!
