the perfect dining chairs

February 24, 2015 by Lindsey 2 Comments

Ever since we built our dining room table we’ve been on the hunt for chairs. And dining chairs, my friends, are brutally expensive. We bought some at Target and then returned them because the metal of the legs clashed with the hairpin legs of the table. Then we bought some on Craigslist that we used temporarily and were working out fine (you’ll see a post on that in the coming weeks on Country Chic!) but still weren’t’ exactly what I was going for.

Dining Table & Chairs

Well THEN, when my sister was in town we hit up the Goodwill 50% off sale and scored big! We found four, upholstered, brand new, still in box, not even assembled yet dining chairs. They were bright and flashy and something I would likely normally shy away from, but Hayley convinced me to at least buy them and return if I didn’t like them in the space. I scored all four chairs for $85, a cool $21.25 per chair. But here’s the kicker, at the time we purchased them they were currently selling at Target for $199 for TWO. So, $400 for four, which blew my mind!

Dining Chairs

After some struggles to fit me, Hayley and baby Claire in the car with the four chairs in enormous boxes and some other great finds we made it home. We put the chairs together, which was pretty easy, and set them at the table.

I love them. They were the perfect added pop of color in our otherwise very neutral kitchen/dining/living room.

I plan to keep that space fairly neutral since it’s so open, but I wanted something to stand out and the chairs were the perfect thing. So when in doubt listen to your sister is the moral of the story.

What a great find. Need to find a Goodwill around here and frequent often.
