project repat t-shirt blankets

October 7, 2015 by Lindsey Leave a Comment

Years ago a friends mom made me a t-shirt blanket with a variety of shirts from my childhood, high school and college years. I loved that I could save these memories in such a useful, non-clutter filled way. When Project Repat reached out to me asking if I’d like to make a T-shirt blanket with them I couldn’t say no!

project Repat 4My sister had been talking about making one with old t-shirts of hers and her husbands for quite some time so I thought they were the perfect candidates to experience Project Repat, which just happens to be located in Massachusetts!Project Repat 1Together my sister and brother-in-law gathered what t-shirts they wanted to use. When the order was placed they followed the instructions for fulfilling the order – there are specific ways to fold, package and send your t-shirts. They placed their order online, choosing the size and the color and fabric of the back of the quilt. They sent the shirts in and in about three weeks they had the perfect t-shirt quilt arrive at their door.Project Repat 2It was amazing! They chose a light gray fleece fabric for the back and it was SO soft. I used it to keep warm while watching football at their house a few weeks ago. The quilt arrived in the exact size, with every t-shirt cut and centered absolutely perfectly.Project Repat 3I really love the concept of these. How many of you have your favorite t-shirts that you’d hate to part with?! I sure did when I had my t-shirt quilt made. I’m thinking I need to have one made for Al since he’s still wearing his 1998 intramural basketball t-shirt. Yes, you read that correctly, 1998. I’d hate for it to disintegrate and he never have a memory of it. Potentially a t-shirt quilt in his future?!

They’re the best gift and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to make one for my sister and brother-in-law. The holidays are fast approaching (how did that happen?!) – this would be a great idea for all ages!

This post was sponsored by Project Repat, but as always, all opinions are my own. It was truly a fabulous experience working with Project Repat. If you are considering a t-shirt quilt for yourself or a loved one I highly recommend visiting their site to learn more about their mission.
